Saint-Brevin, Land of history and guardian of the Loire estuary from the Romans, is richly provided in fortifications on its entire territory: feudal motte, French coast batteries of the 19th and 20th centuries in Mindin and Pointeau, German Bunkers on the Atlantic Wall.
The Atlantic Wall in Saint-Brevin, These are 227 bunkers of all types and all sizes built in the town during the war, including on its rural territory! A considerable density which has little equivalent in France and in Europe.
Casemate 105c plunges visitors to the heart of the 2nd World War. This blockhouse, Built by the Germans in 1943, was part of a large defensive device installed at the Pointeau which was to protect the underwater base of Saint-Nazaire from the attacks of the Allies. With 2m reinforced concrete for walls and roofs and 80cm for interior partitions, It was built according to the classic standards of German fortifications.
This casemate was restored in its original state of 1944, Until the smallest detail, by members of the association.
A great initiative that allows young generations to discover a heritage buried for over 50 years.
A guided tour by reservation only.
The casemate can accommodate 10 people per visit, Registration is carried out online or at the Saint-Brevin or Paimboeuf tourist office.
